Trot Times for April 4, 2014

I’ve got the new Captain America to see, so let’s make this quick. Let’s get right to the trots!

Home Run of the Day: Giancarlo Stanton, Miami Marlins – 21.77* seconds [video]
Beware, Miami-area citizens! This ball could be landing in your backyard at any minute now!

According to ESPN stats, Stanton’s blast travelled 484 feet, sailing over the Budweiser bar in the left field concourse at Marlins Park. It was a wondrous sight. Pedro Alvarez, Carlos Gonzalez, Nick Swisher, and Josh Hamilton all hit mammoth bombs as well, but none had a shot at Home Run of the Day once Stanton came to the plate.

Slowest Trot: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers – 26.08 seconds [video]
The 2,000th hit of Miguel Cabrera’s career was a 26-second tater trot. That sounds about right.

Quickest Trot: Will Middlebrooks, Boston Red Sox – 19.51 seconds [video]
One of only two trots to clock in under 20-seconds.

About Larry Granillo

Larry Granillo has been writing Wezen Ball since 2008 and has dealt with such touchy topics as Charlie Brown's baseball stats and Ferris Bueller's day off. In 2010, he got the bright idea to time every home run trot in baseball; he has been missing ever since.
