Sure this is a cursory study, but you just cited 4 notable examples of bad postseason umpiring over the last 41 years... Obviously this isn't comprehensive but this is a much better argument for this postseason being once-in-a-decade bad.

Moreover, you're comparing this entire season to two postseasons in which one bad call was made, although in key situations. These are not comparable examples. Neither is the article that says the 1992 World Series will be known for its bad calls.

This is an entire postseason. We can't quantify bad calls, and maybe this postseason won't be remembered for its bad calls. But most people in and out of the industry agree that this is the worst postseason of umpiring in recent or not-so-recent memory. - jessedouglas

I'd rather use the technology scarcely, and on the big issues. For instance, there could be 2 challenges allowed per game on safe/out baserunning and fielding calls. Balls and strikes should be beyond question until the game can be called completely by a computer system. Safe/out and fair/foul challenges would actually take about the same amount of time as managers take to kick-dirt-blow-gasket. Of course, we would miss entertainment value of the occasional blown gasket! - maloneyman
